Meet Rafter MC Farrier
Rafter MC Farrier Services is owned and operated by Mason Cope, CF, a Fort Collins local with deep roots in Northern Colorado's horse country. The name Rafter MC carries meaning beyond a brand, just as a rafter gives structure and shelter to everything beneath it. Mason's approach to hoof care is built on that same principle: providing your horse with a foundation that is sound, secure, and built to last.
Mason is the kind of farrier who shows up on time, tells you the truth, and puts the horse first, every single time. He is relationship-driven by nature, straight-shooting by character, and relentlessly committed to the craft. Whether you have one horse or a full string, you can expect the same level of care, honesty, and skill at every visit.

AFA Certified Farrier

My Journey
My connection to horses started in the mountains of Wyoming, where I guided backcountry hunting expeditions. That experience taught me a lot about how horses move, how they handle stress, and what it means to rely on an animal in demanding conditions. It built a respect in me for the horse that has never left.
That respect is what drove me to pursue farriery seriously. I completed my training at 5 Star Horseshoeing School in Minco, Oklahoma, one of the most well-regarded farrier programs in the country, and earned my certification as a licensed farrier. From there, I sought out apprenticeships with multiple well-known and respected farriers, competed in regional and national shoeing competitions, and kept refining my craft. I established Rafter MC Farrier Services, but the foundation behind it was built over years of hard work, mentorship, and genuine dedication to getting it right.
Experience

I work with a wide range of breeds: Quarter Horses, thoroughbreds, warmbloods, drafts, ponies, rodeo horses, and plenty in between. Every horse is different, and I approach each one that way. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all hoofcare.
My services include hot shoeing, cold shoeing, therapeutic and corrective shoeing, and barefoot trimming. I maintain close working relationships with veterinarians and horse trainers in the area, and I am not too proud to pick up the phone and get a second opinion when a horse's situation calls for it.
At the end of the day, every decision I make at the anvil or under a horse comes down to one question: what is best for this animal? That does not change regardless of the breed, the discipline, or the job in front of me.
